Nov 11, 2019The Sandy Springs City Council has approved spending $455,000 to acquire another house for the planned widening of Hammond Drive.
The council approved a purchase contract for 600 Hammond, a single-family home built in the 1950s, and its roughly 19,800-square-foot lot. The seller is The Fishman Fishbowl LP, according to the purchase agreement.
“This property may very well be suitable for a First Responder Lease-Out,” the city’s program to lease homes it owns on Hammond to police officers or firefighters pending the start of road construction, according to a staff report to the council.
Plans call for widening Hammond from two lanes to four, creating a divided thoroughfare with sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
