Sandy Springs Fire Rescue has received $88,000 in federal grants to install sprinkler systems at two local fire stations.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant came from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for Sandy Springs fire stations 1 and 2. The approved amounts were $49,500 for station 1 and $60,500 for station 2.
Sandy Springs will also spend $22,000 to match the FEMA grants.
These particular federal grants are awarded to fire departments to enhance their ability to protect the public and fire service personnel from fire and related hazards.
