Before taking those torn comforters, faded towels and sheets to the trash, Roswell officials and the Atlanta Humane Society want a word with you.

Weather across metro Atlanta is headed toward chilly temperatures. That is why the city announced Monday that it needs residents' linens. They city is collecting those items at its Maxwell Road recycling center during business hours Tuesday through Saturday throughout November.

From there, all donated items will go to the Atlanta Humane Society’s Mansell Road location in Alpharetta.

This month-long drive intersects with America Recycles Day — annually held Nov. 15 — a project aimed at caring for animals at the Humane Society during the winter, officials said.

Sorry, no dirty items allowed. Any and all size sheets, however, are suitable.

And if you're a Fulton County resident interested in adopting a dog or cat of your own for cheap, there's still time.

Fulton County Animal Services are still offering half-priced adoptions this month for all cats and dogs over 25 pounds.
