The Roswell City Council has approved seeking $188,503 from the state to replace a boat dock dating to the late 1980s on the Chattahoochee River in Azalea Park.

The city will apply for a water trail grant from the 2020 Recreational Trails Grant program of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

“This project would be a partnership with the Atlanta Rowing Club, (which) will provide the matching funds, assist with the design for a new ADA-accessible dock, and work with staff from Recreation and Parks and Grants on the application,” staff said in a report to the council.

Total project cost is $235,629, staff said. The Rowing Club would provide $47,126 in matching funds, pending a memorandum of understanding with the city.

The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department would oversee the grant project’s implementation, administration and close-out, according to a resolution approved by the council.
