A roof collapsed on an Atlanta firefighter as he battled a house fire late Saturday, sending him to the hospital, fire officials said.

The unidentified firefighter was in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. at a two-story house in the 600 block of Federal Terrace. All the residents escaped unharmed.

According to Atlanta Fire Capt. Jolyon Bundrige, the fire was heaviest in the rear of the home's second story.  That's where a portion of the roof collapsed, injuring the firefigthter.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Bundrige said the Red Cross arrived to help the residents.
