Paperboard and packaging manufacturer RockTenn will consolidate its Chicago and St. Louis operations in Gwinnett County, adding 500 jobs here.

Norcross-based RockTenn also will make a $5 million capital investment in its Gwinnett County operations, the company announced Thursday. RockTenn currently employs more than 1,100 people in Georgia.

Gov. Nathan Deal hailed the announcement, saying RockTenn “has chosen Georgia as the best place to keep doing business for years to come.”
