A Rockdale County teacher has been charged for her role in a Lawrenceville car accident that killed an 80-year-old Air Force veteran, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Laura Daniel was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to jail records. She was charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide and failure to obey a traffic device and was released on $7,000 bond that day.
The accident occurred June 4 at the intersection of Ga. 124 and Ga. 20.
Channel 2 reported Daniel was driving a 2012 Honda Odyssey when she failed to stop at a red light and struck David Skelley’s 2005 Dodge Neon. The accident is still under investigation, according to a police report.
Daniel teaches English at Heritage High School in Conyers, according to Channel 2.
Skelley was a Lawrenceville resident who had served in the Air Force, according to his obituary. He is survived by nine children and 23 grandchildren.
