The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is about to begin the once-every-three-years process of getting national accreditation.

And it is during this time that the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies actively solicits public comment.

The GBI, like any other law enforcement agency seeking CALEA accreditation, will be judged on more than 300 standards.

The assessment team begins its review Aug. 21. The public can offer comments of no more than 10 minutes via phone 1-5 p.m. beginning Aug. 22 at 1-877-260-748.

Written comments should be sent to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc., 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA, 20155.
