Residents of the Connemara subdivision in Lawrenceville, which had been cut off by flooding since early Monday morning, were able to begin entering and leaving the area again late Tuesday night after waters receded.

Homeowners association president David Plumlee said county crews inspected a bridge over Sweetwater Creek leading into the 225-home subdivision and declared it safe, allowing residents access again. The community, off River Drive near the intersection of Reagan Parkway and Lawrenceville Highway, is located near the confluence of Sweetwater Creek and the Yellow River.

When both overflowed about 6:30 a.m. Monday, water covered both the bridge and much of the road leading into the subdivision, and flooded the ground floors of several homes.
