A shoplifting suspect who allegedly led police on a chase was ordered to stay in jail without bond Monday after a Douglas County judge learned that he had been arrested 68 times.

The Douglas County Sentinel reported that Timothy Lowe, 53, was arrested Saturday after allegedly stealing a coat and fur hat from the Bealls Outlet store on Fairburn Road, then leading police on a chase down I-20.

Lowe was charged with shoplifting, reckless driving, fleeing/eluding, driving on a suspended license and DUI as well as possessing crack cocaine. The cocaine was found in his vehicle during the impounding process, and a blood test later revealed that Lowe had cocaine in his system, the newspaper reported.

Douglas County Magistrate Court Judge Susan Camp agreed to a prosecution request for no bond, calling Lowe a danger to the community.

“It looks like you’ve been arrested 68 times,” Camp told Lowe, according to the Sentinel. “That might be a record here, I’m not sure.”
