Search your drawers for dead batteries, your garage for unwanted paint, your desk drawers for sensitive documents.

Then take them to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials on April 15, because it will be accepting for free items that normally warrant a processing fee that day.

Atlanta council member Carla Smith and environmental non-profit Live Thrive collaborated for the seventh annual event, known as Eco Depot, that grants "amnesty from traditional costs of properly recycling items," according to a news release. The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is in response to curbside companies turning away a number of recyclable items.

The permanent drop-off facility opened two years ago and is located at 1110 Hill Street SE. See a list of accepted items.
