Registration is underway for the Powder Springs Citizens Police Academy.

“The CPA is our premier outreach program that gives participants an inside look at our profession and the opportunity to learn about the level of training and commitment it takes to serve as a police officer to the City of Powder Springs,” said Powder Springs Chief of Police Tony M. Bailey in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Among the topics will be Crime Scene Processing, Criminal Procedure, Traffic Law, Vehicle Pullovers and Firearms with Range Instruction.

Classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 26, for about 12 weeks.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal history background check.

Applications: Officer Desmond Borders at 770-943-1616 or dborders@CityOfPowderSprings.org.
