A gunman ambushed an employee of a popular Buckhead restaurant late Monday night and robbed the restaurant's safe, police said.

The robber, wearing a ski mask and hoodie, surprised an employee who was taking out the trash at Willy's Mexicana Grill on West Paces Ferry Road around 11:30 p.m., Capt. Van Hobbs told Channel 2 Action News.

The man forced the employee back inside the restaurant, where he forced the night manager to give him money from the safe. Neither the manager nor the employee was hurt in the incident.

Police have only a sparse description of the gunman -- since his face was covered, they don't even know his race. The restaurant's general manager came to the scene and provided police with security video, but Hobbs said the video didn't provide any significant clues.
