A Lawrenceville nurse had to be tasered by police who said she was obstructing an arrest.
Marthe Bein-Aime was released from the Gwinnett County Detention Center on Monday after herself being arrested over the weekend, police said.
Police went to the SummitRidge Psychiatric hospital to arrest a patient accused of sexually assaulting another patient, Lawrenceville police Maj. Paul King told Channel 2 Action News.
"We met with hospital staff and informed them that they had the warrant for the patient's arrest," King said.
But Bein-Aime would not allow officers to get to the patient's room, telling them, "Hell no ... this is not happening while I am in charge," according to a police incident report.
King said when she refused to cooperate with police, officers had no other choice but to use a short burst from a Taser on Bein-Aime's back side.
"Once they tried to place her into custody, she began flailing her arms," King said. "She went to the floor."
Officers ultimately arrested the patient they went to the hospital seeking.
SummitRidge staff was not available for comment.
Bein-Aime is charged with interfering with a police officer.
