Police search for details in fatal Clayton hit-and-run

Results from an autopsy conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have determined a 55-year-old Waffle House employee was struck by a vehicle.

Robert Leroy Redeye was found dead near a bridge at Flint River and Kendrick Roads on Jan. 10.

It is believed he was struck the night before on his way to work.

“We have learned that he would take that route when he walked to work,” Lt. Tina Daniel, Clayton County police spokeswoman, told the AJC. “The last someone saw him was earlier that afternoon, Jan. 9.”

Redeye was found by a pedestrian. The GBI’s autopsy concluded that he died from massive internal injuries, injuries that resemble those obtained from a hit-and-run, Daniel said.

Anyone with details are asked to call Detective Jeremy Hutto at 770-473-5474.
