DeKalb County police are seeking the driver of a white Chrysler Sebring that struck and killed a 53-year-old Jonesboro man who was walking on Moreland Avenue on Wednesday night, Channel 2 Action News reports.
Erron Butler was killed when he was hit on Moreland near I-285. Authorities told Channel 2 he was not in a crosswalk at the time. Earlier reports that the vehicle involved was an SUV were incorrect.
DeKalb police put out a lookout after the accident, and an Atlanta police officer located the Chrysler near Jonesboro Road and Bisbee Avenue, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka S. Parish said.
“We have not identified the driver, but are actively pursuing leads,” Parish said in an email Thursday afternoon.
