A man wearing a wig that police said made him look like Tina Turner allegedly robbed a bank inside a Wal-Mart store in DeKalb County on Monday, but he didn't remain at large very long, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The incident happened around lunchtime at Woodforest National Bank in the Wal-Mart on Gresham Road, police said. The man, wearing a wig that witnesses said resembled the famous singer's hairstyle, demanded cash from a bank teller in the store, then fled in a car. No one was injured in the robbery.

Using information phoned in to 911 by witnesses, police seeking the suspect ended up at an apartment complex in the 3800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in northwest Atlanta.

"Once we got here, we set up a perimeter and started receiving more information about the description of the suspect," Trooper Christopher Ingle of the Georgia State Patrol told Channel 2.

The man sought by a police and a woman who allegedly drove the getaway car tried to blend into the crowd, but officers spotted them.

"He had been walking around [and] kind of caught our eye," Ingle said.

DeKalb County police, the lead agency in the investigation, arrested the man and woman.

Officers also recovered cash and drugs from the man's pockets, police said. The suspects were being questioned Monday evening, and their names and any charges against them were not yet available.

Atlanta and Fulton County police assisted DeKalb police and the GSP in the hunt for the suspects and their arrests.

Police credited witnesses with helping them track down the suspects.

"Once you call 911, if you can get a description out as detailed and as quick as possible, the likelihood of us getting the person is very high," Ingle said.
