Police: Man found dead in park shot during home invasion

A man whose body was found in a northwest Atlanta park by his aunt was fatally wounded during a home invasion, police said.

Arkenius Cobb, 22, was shot by a homeowner when he, and others, attempted to rob a home on Larchmont Circle, police said.

Cobb exchanged gunfire with the home's residents and was shot in the upper body, police said. It's believed he then fled to nearby Harwell Heights Park where his body was found.

Cobb's aunt, who works for Atlanta Parks and Recreation, found his body while doing landscaping work  for the city.

Cobb's mother, Melva Tisinder, told Channel 2 Action News her son had been in trouble in the past.

"He may have done a lot of bad things but he did not kill anyone," she said.

Police said they are still looking for two people believed to be with Cobb during the robbery attempt. Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
