A Macon man is in a Florida jail, accused of stealing money and jewelry from victims at Atlanta Motor Speedway and other race tracks across the country.

AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB reported Friday that actor Patrick Dempsey is among the list of victims, which also includes race drivers and pit crew members.

According to WSB, Steven Sanders was arrested in March after being caught on a cellphone video stepping out of a motorhome at a track in Gainesville, Fla., and wiping the door handle with a rag.

Police believe Sanders, 51,  has been stealing from RVs at races across the country for years, WSB reported.

"All at speedways, where he's taken wallets, watches, cash, credit cards," said Det. Scott Frantz of the Daytona Beach, Fla., police department. Detectives have discovered 43 alleged victims from Daytona International Speedway alone.

When authorities searched Sanders' home in Macon, they found Rolex watches, cash, credit cards, Social Security cards and $130,000 in unused gift cards.

Sanders is facing dozens of theft-related charges and is being held in the Volusia County, Fla., jail on $80,000 bond.
