A robbery at North Highland Pub in Atlanta on June 25 "more than likely" may be connected to two other robberies in Douglasville, a police detective for the Douglas County city said.
The robbery of a Douglasville gas station occurred two days after the stick-up of the Inman Park tavern, Douglasville police Detective Clint Ratliff said. The style of the crime is also similar to a robbery at a Douglasville Waffle House on Nov. 30, 2011 that remains unsolved.
The Atlanta robbery occurred 11:30 p.m. at North Highland Pub at 469 N. Highland Ave NE. When police arrived, they found a half-dozen customers and a bartender who said they had all been robbed.
The victims said two men entered the restaurant and immediately pointed the gun at everyone and ordered them to put their valuables on the bar. The bartender said he was ordered to hand over the money in the cash register. The suspects took cash, cell phones and a laptop and fled south on North Highland Avenue.
Tuesday, Atlanta police released sketches of two men suspected of the pub robbery.
One man was described by victims as around 30-years-old with a thin build, wearing a dew rag and a winter-like cap with floppy sides. He was armed with a silver and black handgun. His accomplice was described as looking younger than the first man, possibly in his late 20s, short and with a goatee. He was unarmed. Victims said both men had dark complexions and wore dark clothing.
Ratliff said the descriptions of the two Atlanta robbery suspects match the physical and clothing descriptions in the gas station robbery and the physical descriptions in the Waffle House robbery.
In the gas station heist June 27, two men walked into the JP Jones Petro at 7306 Bankhead Highway, fired a round and robbed the clerk of cash. Ratliff said they were possibly dropped off by a gray four-door car with fog lights. One suspect wore a cap with floppy sides, a key clue that the same men may have committed the Atlanta robbery, Ratliff said.
Earlier, on Nov. 30, two men robbed a Waffle House at 4865 Ridge Road. Their physical descriptions and the way they carried out the crime are similar to the other two crimes, Ratliff said, but their clothing descriptions differ.
In all three instances, only one person was armed, and no injuries were reported.
