Atlanta police said a man who had been shot was found dead after crashing his SUV into a northwest Atlanta home Saturday night.
Ashley Brown, 35, of Columbia, S.C., had been shot multiple times, according to police spokesman Officer John Chafee.
Detectives believe he exchanged gunfire with someone before driving about two blocks, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Brown slammed into a house in the 3000 block of Kingston Road.
Homeowners Alphonso and Alicia McCoy were home but not hurt in the crash.
“I just hate that my house was hurt, but I praise God and I thank him, anyway,” Alicia McCoy told Channel 2.
Alphonso McCoy said he was sitting on the sofa having a snack when he heard the car hit his house.
“We heard this big boom and I looked right through the window and the car was sitting there,” he told Channel 2. “[The driver] was slumped over the seat, all the little bit I could see.”
Alicia McCoy said she couldn’t see in the car, but that her neighbors said the driver “looked like he had been shot.”
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate.
