Three Jonesboro teens were arrested Monday for allegedly burglarizing 20 Clayton County homes and stealing six cars, police said.

Clayton County police officers performing routine patrols Monday afternoon identified a black SUV that had been reported stolen near the Drakes Landing subdivision off Jodeco Road, according to police reports.

When officers stopped the car, the three juveniles ran from the vehicle and were arrested after a short foot chase, police said.

Upon further investigation, police said the teens confessed to the burglaries and thefts. Police were able to recover the stolen vehicles and weapons.

The teens face burglary, auto theft, theft by receiving, aggravated assault and obstruction charges, police said.

They are not being identified because they are juveniles.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
