Norcross Mayor Craig Newton shared an update on the former Westrock property at the city’s most recent city council meeting. Mayor Newton explained the city has received a request from Alliance Realty Properties to defer discussion of the 10-acre project off Thrasher Street until May.

Alliance is taking feedback from a recent public hearing and reworking the proposed redevelopment of the property, which could include as many as 385 residential units, retail and restaurant space, a park, and a parking deck.

A second community meeting will be held later in April to review the revised plan, with the exact date still to be determined.

The reworked proposal is expected to be before the city’s zoning board May 2, the Downtown Development Authority May 3, the Architectural Review Board May 15, and the City Council policy work session on May 21. Assuming the plan moves ahead, the project will be before the City Council June 4 for a public hearing.
