From the original caption: "'Time's terrible now,' says the woman who worked as a maid in Americus until her disability retired her. 'I worked five days a week, eight and nine hours a day for $5 a day. ... But nowadays since the government making 'em pay maids $2.65 an hour, ain't that much call for maid work 'round here.'"
