Peters takes helm of ITC as eighth president

The Rev. Ronald Edwards Peters will be inaugurated as the eighth president of the Interdenominational Theological Center on Friday.

ITC, founded in 1958,  is a consortium of six different denominational seminaries.

The inauguration will be held at 5 p.m. at  the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College .

ITC will host an inaugural conference on "Theological Education for the 21st Century Plural, Global and Urbanized Society" on Thursday and Friday.  Speakers include clergy, scholars, educators  and professionals in the areas of criminal justice, healthcare and public policy. Before joining ITC, Peters was the Henry L. Hillman Associate Professor of  Urban Ministry and the first director of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary's Metro-Urban Institute.
