Pedestrian struck, killed in Gwinnett
Gwinnett County police Wednesday were investigating a fatal predawn pedestrian accident.
The pedestrian was struck about 5 a.m. on the ramp from Ga. 316 westbound to Ga. 120.
The identity of the person killed, and other circumstances surrounding the incident, were not immediately available.
The westbound lanes of Ga. 316, as well as the ramp to Ga. 120, were reopened about 7:15 a.m.
That incident was one of several early morning accidents as a line of rain moved through metro Atlanta.
The state Department of Transportation reported that three lanes of I-20 eastbound past Hamilton E. Holmes Drive were blocked by a crash at 5:30 a.m.
On the other side of town, a wreck after 5 a.m. blocked a couple of lanes of I-20 eastbound east of Flat Shoals Road.
Those wrecks were cleared by about 5:45, but a pair of crashes after 6 a.m. slowed traffic in both directions on Ga. 400.
Three northbound lanes were shut down north of Abernathy Road, while on the southbound side, two lanes were blocked by a wreck near Haynes Bridge Road. Those crashes were cleared by 7:30 a.m.
