Pedestrian, 2 police officers hit by vehicles on Bankhead Highway

A pedestrian and two Carrollton police officers were struck by vehicles Friday night  on Bankhead Highway, Carrollton police told Channel 2 Action News.

The pedestrian was hit shortly after 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Bankhead Highway and Almon Road, according to Carrollton police.  As police investigated the accident, a car pulled out from a side street, hitting the two officers.

The condition of the pedestrian is unknown. One police officer was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, and the other was taken by ground ambulance to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, police told Channel 2 Action News.

Currently, Bankhead Highway is closed  in the area of Almon Road. The  Georgia State Patrol is investigating  the accident.
