A 57-year-old pedestrian who may have been drinking was hit by a pickup truck and killed as he crossed Peachtree Industrial Boulevard early Sunday, Gwinnett County police said.
The pedestrian was identified as Dennis Diresta of Doraville.
Police say Diresta was not in a crosswalk when he tried to cross the thoroughfare near Medlock Bridge Road about 12:30 a.m. A northbound Chevrolet Silverado hit Diresta in the right lane, police said. The driver stopped and called police.
Police said alcohol might have been a "contributing factor in the pedestrian's actions."
The incident remains under investigation.
