Peachtree City plans to relocate its now-famous resident alligator, nicknamed “Flat Creek Floyd.” The large reptile has been seen several times in Flat Creek near Ga. Hwy. 74 South, and so far has not posed a threat.

But Police Chief Janet Moon told the City Council May 5 that a trapper has been hired to try to move the alligator 100 miles south to more suitable habitat. She asked the public not to feed the animal because doing so would make him ineligible for re-release and he would be killed. Council member Terry Ernst said the Noah’s Ark sanctuary in McDonough has also expressed interest in giving Floyd a new home.
