Peachtree City has narrowed its search for a new police chief to three candidates.

The finalists being considered are Archie Joseph Duvall, a major in the Marietta Police Department, Jeffrey Lawrence Glazier, a major with the Atlanta Police Department and Janet Lee Moon, deputy chief with the Suwanee Police Department. The candidates will meet with the interview panel on June 2.

Peachtree City has been without a permanent police chief since William McCollom resigned in March, less than a week after the Fayette County District Attorney said he would seek charges against him in connection with a shooting incident at his home.

McCollom reportedly accidentally shot his ex-wife on New Year’s Day as they slept in their home. The shooting has reportedly left Margaret McCollom paralyzed. McCollom told investigators he had been drinking and took sleeping pills before falling asleep. He later woke up and armed himself with his gun after hearing dogs barking outside. He returned to bed after finding nothing and placed the gun under the sheets. He said he was awakened by the sound of a single gunshot.

McCollom was indicted a month later by a Fayette County grand jury for reckless conduct, a misdemeanor. He was released on bond.

Capt. Stan Pye, a 25-year veteran with the police department, is serving as interim police chief.
