The Everton development off MacDuff Parkway in Peachtree City’s Wilksmoor Village will be allowed to replace retail space with 42 townhomes.

The City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the District 15 Limited Use Residential zoning conditions on Oct. 4 at the request of Pulte Homes Corporation. Pulte’s original 2007 Everton development plan included 6 acres of retail space, which the company says is now no longer viable due to other commercial development nearby. The zoning amendment was approved with several conditions recommended by the city’s planning commission.

City Planner Robin Cailloux said the change to more residential use would result in less overall traffic in the area but would slightly increase projections for school enrollment.
