DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James and other local officials hope to raise awareness about animal neglect and cruelty with the “Paws for the Cause” event Saturday.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DeKalb Square at 101 East Court Square in downtown Decatur.

A veterinarian will offer low-cost immunizations and $20 microchips, along with other services. There will also be on-site adoptions, live music, food and Frisbee performances, among other things.
