The front-seat passenger was killed Sunday when the car in which she was riding crashed on I-75 South in Cobb County, police said.

The driver was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with critical injuries, Cobb police Sgt. Wayne Delk said.

The crash happened shortly after noon between Hickory Grove Road and Wade Green Road, police said.

“According to investigators,” Delk said, “a black 2015 Cadillac Escalade was southbound approaching Wade Green Road when for unknown reasons the vehicle entered the center median, continued down the embankment and collided with two trees.”

The passenger’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The man driving the vehicle has not been identified.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.
