April 19, 2012

Part of Ga. 400 will be closed Thursday as authorities reconstruct a deadly crash that took place last week, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety announced Tuesday.

Two northbound lanes of Ga. 400 near Haynes Bridge Road will be closed until 1 p.m. The northbound ramp to Ga. 400 from Haynes Bridge also will be closed during that time.

Alternate routes are encouraged, and motorists should slow down and use caution around the crash investigators, authorities said.

Edward Kivlin, 67, of Cumming died in a multi-vehicle wreck at that location last week, Alpharetta police said.

An initial investigation indicated that Kivlin's northbound Nissan Pathfinder was hit by a Honda Civic that left an adjacent lane on Ga. 400.The drivers lost control of their vehicles, and the Nissan was hit by a Dodge minivan traveling down the ramp, overturned and went down an embankment.
