Overnight traffic detours in Town Center area

April 7, 2015Georgia and Cobb Departments of Transportation staff have scheduled overnight detours Wednesday, affecting traffic in the Town Center Mall area.
These detours will impact traffic traveling in both eastbound and westbound directions on Barrett Parkway under Interstate 575 as well as traffic traveling northbound on I-575 at the Barrett Parkway juncture.
The detours will be in effect 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to set bridge beams for the new managed lanes system.
Variable message signs have been in the area since last week, providing motorists advanced warning of the upcoming detours.
- For Barrett Parkway eastbound traffic, the detour begins at the Barrett Parkway/George Busbee Parkway intersection. Traffic will be directed north on George Busbee Parkway, east on Chastain Road, then south on Chastain Meadows to Barrett Parkway.
- For Barrett Parkway westbound traffic, the detour begins at the Interstate 75/Barrett Parkway interchange. Traffic will be directed onto I-575 northbound and travel north to exit at Chastain Road (exit 3), then left onto Chastain Road, followed by another left onto the I-575 entrance ramp to return southbound on I-575 and exit at Barrett Parkway.
- I-575 northbound traffic will be directed to exit the interstate at Barrett Parkway (exit 1), then resume travel directly onto the interstate via the I-575 northbound entrance ramp on Barrett Parkway.
