Officials seek cause of death after body found on Tech campus
Authorities are hoping an autopsy Wednesday will confirm the identity and determine the cause of death of a man whose body was found Tuesday morning on the Georgia Tech campus.
The death of the white male is a mystery so far.
He was found around 9:50 a.m behind a building at 711 Marietta Street, Atlanta police spokesman Curtis Davenport told the AJC.
The body was found under a blanket near shrubbery, Davenport said, adding that the man "appeared to have facial injuries."
According to the Georgia Tech website, that building, the old Ziegler Tools building, houses the school's Procurement Services office.
Georgia Tech spokesman Matt Nagel told the AJC that identification found on the body indicated that the man was 44 years old. He said there was no indication that the man "is or was a member of the Georgia Tech community."
