North Point Ministries is set to release more details Tuesday about its expansion into Gwinnett County.
As previously reported in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, North Point Ministries is expanding its reach into other counties. The campus pastor at Gwinnett Church is Jeff Henderson, the former pastor of Buckhead Church. Details will be unveiled during a webcast at 8 p.m. Tuesday on www.gwinnettchurch.org/fall2011.
"We aren't sure how long a permanent structure will take to build at this point," Henderson said. "We do have land on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Sugar Hill, but are focusing on launching the church this fall in a leased facility before building there."
Earlier this year, the ministry added Watermarke Church in Canton as a campus.
North Point Ministries, founded by pastor Andy Stanley, also includes Buckhead Church in Atlanta, North Point Community Church in Alpharetta and Browns Bridge Community Church in Cumming.
Some megachurches expand to other states, but North Point Ministries has opted to focus on growing within the metro Atlanta area, said Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research. The ministry "has a well-articulated strategy of outreach, worship expression and Andy Stanley's teachings," he said.
Stetzer said there may be other campuses in the future.
"They're on a roll, and I think you'll see more," he said.
