The Norcross City Council approved $7,044 for the demolition of added structures at the city’s historic Johnson Dean Waterworks building, 145 North Barton St. The demolition includes structures added since 1960, including a shed attached to the well house and an added structure on the left side of the building.

The objective is to stabilize the building structure with the eventual goal of restoring and preserving the building in a way that will maintain its historic integrity. Contract for the work goes to the lowest of three bidders, BGI of Lithonia. Additional contracts and costs are expected for future asbestos abatement.
