A baby delivered Friday morning after her mother was killed in a car crash died hours later, the Macon Telegraph reported.

Alita Foster, 22, who was four months pregnant, died after crashing into a tree, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Foster was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the newspaper reported. A 16-year-old passenger was treated for a fractured arm.

The child was delivered by emergency C-section, Jones said. However, she was pronounced dead about 1:30 p.m., Jones said.

Foster’s parents were with the child in the hospital after the accident, the newspaper reported.
