Taco aficionado’s in north Fulton County will have a new spot to try after Friday.

That’s when Fuzzy’s Taco Shop hosts its grand opening at 5325 Winward Parkway.

The first 100 guests in line for the grand opening of the 3,400 square-foot fast casual restaurant will receive a free T-shirt and specials on food and drinks. For just $0.99, beef and chicken tacos, and chips and salsa are also available. There will also be a giveaway and a raffle.

Fuzzy’s in Alpharetta features an open-air kitchen, polished concrete floors, a wall made of reclaimed barn wood and another wall comprised of six types Jarritos soda bottles, the company said. A community table seating twenty occupies the dining room underneath a chandelier made up of 300 Corona bottles drank by guests at the restaurant.

It also features an indoor-outdoor veranda room for private events with a large retractable garage door, allowing for events throughout the year.

On the day after its grand opening – Saturday, Sept. 23 – Fuzzy’s will host a taco-eating contest at 5 p.m. where contestants are tasked with eating as many beef or chicken tacos as they can in 10 minutes. The winner will have a “Taco Champion” plaque hung in the restaurant and receive a gift card, T-shirt along with raffle tickets.

Children will eat free with the purchase of an adult Mexican plate during the opening weekend.

This is the fourth Fuzzy’s built, owned and operated by franchisee George Lebus. It was founded in 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Alpharetta location opens at 7 a.m. on Friday.
