Another street in Midtown Atlanta is getting a facelift. Tenth Street from Williams Street to Piedmont Ave. is slated for improved sidewalks, trees and lighting, according to the state Department of Transportation documents and the Midtown Alliance.
The DOT’s board this month approved the streetscape project for bidding, and while the true price won’t be known until bids come in, DOT’s database estimates it at $1.2 million. If all goes smoothly it should be finished in 2012, according to the alliance. Officials hope to make Midtown more appealing to pedestrians and bicyclists, and thus encourage mass transit use and discourage driving.
