The Lilburn City Council voted unanimously Monday evening to abandon right of way at 104 First Avenue, on city-owned property next door to the former City Hall Annex.
The former Planning and Economic Development Department office is under contract for a subdivision. It is two parcels of land having different right-of-way widths. The property at 104 First Avenue has a 100-foot right-of-way width, and the property at 98 First Avenue has a 40-foot width. For consistency of road frontage, the abandonment of right- of-way in front of 104 First Avenue will be reduced to 50 feet contingent upon the closing of the property.
Both properties are under contract for purchase. The houses will be located close to the right- of-way with rear entry garages, on-street parallel parking, and sidewalks.
“We’re looking for this to be a model for redevelopment in Old Town,” said Doug Stacks, Planning and Economic Development Director.
