A fireworks explosion at a home in central Wisconsin killed a 4-year-old girl Monday night, authorities said.

Alyssa Chmielewski of Clintonville, who was standing about 10-feet away from the fireworks, died after she was struck in the upper body and neck by exploding shrapnel, according to CBS 12 TV.

The pyrotechnics were packed inside a metal tube, which blew-up when the fireworks were lit.

The explosion happened around 10:30 p.m., and the father, who had put together the “sparklers-type” fireworks was not seriously injured.
