New Decatur town homes/apartments surpass 600

Decatur’s city commission gave John Wieland Homes the go-ahead on building 11 townhomes of roughly 2,000 square feet on East Howard Avenue, across the street from a separate development of 24 townhomes. The Wieland construction should finish by the end of the year. Additionally there are three mixed-use developments currently in various stages of construction throughout the city totaling 600 apartments. According to Assistant City Manager Lyn Menne, 70 percent of those apartments are efficiency or one bedroom, 29 percent are two bedrooms and one percent three bedrooms.
