A new joint for pulled pork and ribs is coming soon to Johns Creek.

City Barbeque, an Ohio-based restaurant chain, is moving into what used to be an Applebee’s at 4120 Johns Creek Parkway.

According to its Facebook page, the restaurant is hiring for the Johns Creek location now and will open its doors on June 25. This is the second metro Atlanta location for City Barbeque, with this first opening last year in Decatur.

It will be the 39th restaurant for the barbecue chain. The old Applebee’s location covers about 5,000 square feet and can seat about 90 people inside and 30 more outside.

The menu includes a variety of smoked meats, included beef brisket, pork, turkey, chicken and sausage. St. Louis style ribs, several sides, salads, desserts and drinks are also offered. Carry-out is available and so is catering.

According to its website, City Barbeque’s roots came from a competition team and it’s first restaurant opened in 1999.

City Barbeque will be open Monday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
