Two vacant houses were heavily damaged Friday night by a two-alarm blaze that residents of the northwest Atlanta neighborhood fear might have been started by an arsonist.
The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Friday in adjacent houses on Lois Place near Jones A venue. No injuries were reported.
While fire investigators have not said what started the blaze or whether it was two separate fires or a fire that spread from one home to the other, neighbors told Channel 2 Action News that they think it was the work of a firebug.
"It's scary, because it could have been us. It could have been our house and the guy did it, he just set it on fire for nothing," one woman told Channel 2.
Earlier this month, suspicious fires heavily damaged two houses within a block of one another on North Avenue, about a mile south of the two houses destroyed by Friday night’s fire.
