NAACP to hold Jubilee celebration

Dec 29, 2011

The Atlanta Branch of the NAACP will hold its annual observance of the Emancipation Proclamation at Jubilee Day at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Baptist Church, 437 Mitchell Street.

This year’s Jubilee Day will honor Atlanta’s civil rights foot soldiers, as well as members of the black media who assisted in telling their stories.

The NAACP marks Jubilee Day as a chance for African Americans to come together to celebrate their freedom from slavery.
