A motorcyclist died Friday from injuries suffered in a collision five days earlier, Cobb County police announced Tuesday.

The crash happened March 4 around 3:30 p.m. on Hurt Road and Old Tennessee Road in Marietta.

Leonard Daggett, 30, of Atlanta was driving a yellow 2000 Honda CBR 929 motorcycle and was attempting to negotiate a curve eastbound on Hurt Road when he crossed the double yellow line and hit a vehicle head-on, investigators said.

He was transported in critical condition to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he died Friday.

The vehicle Daggett hit, a blue 2000 Honda CR-V, was driven by William J. Hill, 30, of Hiram, authorities said. Hill was not hurt, but his passenger, Chandra R. Keyon, 24, of Marietta, was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital with non–life threatening injuries, police said.

Excessive speed is believed to have contributed to the crash, and no charges are expected to be filed, investigators said.

Anyone with information on the case should call the Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
