A 17-year-old motorcyclist landed in the bed of a pickup truck when the two vehicles collided Monday afternoon in Cherokee County.

The motorcycle's driver, whose name was not released, was conscious and alert, said Tim Cavender with the Cherokee fire department. The teen suffered an open ankle fracture and was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Cavender said.

The wreck happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Holly Springs Parkway, near the East Cherokee Drive intersection, in Holly Springs, Cavender said.

No one else was injured.
