A Sunday afternoon crash involving three cars and six motorcycles on I-75 in Henry County sent eight people to the hospital.
“Fortunately there are no life-threatening injuries,” Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton said.
All northbound lanes were closed for nearly two hours following the accident, which occurred just after 1 p.m.
The chain-reaction crash apparently resulted from vehicles following too closely, Bolton said.
“There was a vehicle that had stopped on the side of the road, and for whatever reason other vehicles started to slow down,” he said. “It was kind of a situation of following too closely. Vehicles started hitting one another.”
The bikers had come from the National Bikers Roundup at Atlanta Motor Speedway, which concludes today.
Another fatal motorcycle accident was reported Sunday afternoon on I-85 in Franklin County, near the Georgia-South Carolina border.
